Lisa Gerrard’s third solo album.

Lisa Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy’s “Immortal Memory” could be described as one long prayer with the spaces in between tracks being one’s pause for breath. Each electronic track asks for love and guidance from above and always with the comforting, yet powerful voice of Mrs. Gerrard. She collaborates here with the equally talented Cassidy and they weave a great sonic quilt for all to hear. This is timeless music for the ages and so fitting for our burgeoning millenium. The mournful track “Elegy” may remind one of her work from the film “Gladiator” and the following piece “Sailing to Byzantium” is aptly titled as it gives the listener the feeling of sojourning to a greater purpose. Lisa sings much of these ‘hymns’ in Aramaic, and within the discs liner notes there is brief historical explanation of each. “Immortal Memory’s” closing piece, the funereal “Psallit in Aure Dei” was composed entirely by Cassidy in memory of his father Colin. Pearl Jam Live at the Garden – 2disc DVD of the July 8, 2003 concert performance at Madison Square Garden.

The members of Pearl Jam truly love music and it shows. They wear their influences on their sleeves, The Who, The Ramones, The Buzzcocks, Iron Maiden (McCready), and it shows in their genuine wish to put on a good performance worth the money of a concert ticket. The night filmed at Madison Square Garden in NYC may not have been their highlight concert from 2003′s Riot Act tour but it’s a cross-section of one night with the band. And if you are a fan and happened to miss PJ on that tour, it’s one way to be a part of what happened (full review by M. Swinney).
